Tobago- Charlotteville
Pointed Bow Pirogues

The dugouts used by the Amerindians who lived in the village of Charlotteville before the arrival of Columbus have been replaced over the years by contemporary pointed-bow pirogues.
These boats are sometimes used to take visitors to small bays around Charlotteville that are not accessible by road.
Arawaks were the original inhabitants of Charlotteville and were noted for their fishing skills. To this day Charlotteville remains a fishing village, nestled in seclusion on the windward coast of Tobago, scooped out at the base of a hilly range which drops suddenly down to the sea.
