Montserrat- Carr's Bay

The fishing boats of Montserrat are conventional in design with a wide middle area and pointed bow, but not as high and sharp as the pirogue.
Carr's Bay is one of a few fishing areas, and is believed to be the first site of settlement by the Irish Catholics who were fleeing from persecution by the Protestants in neighbouring St Kitts.
!n 1712 the French invaded Montserrat and some of the troops landed at Car's Bay.  There is still a cemetery in the area, said to be where the remains of the casualties of that invasion are burried.
