CLICO Calendars
In 1991 CLICO commissions the artist to travel through the Caribbean islands to paint traditional fishing boats and to draw typical vendors.
"This Calendar is a symbol of CLICO's dedication to the total environment in which we live, work and play in the Caribbean.
We commissioned the distinguished Trinidadian artist Jackie Hinkson to travel through the Caribbean, ranging from Guyana to Jamaica, to capture for posterity the sight and spirit of a rapidly vanishing Caribbean icon: the Fishing Boat, with all its relevance to our history, work characteristics and social tapestry.
The fishing dories were once common to all the caribbean islands - they were distinguishable by their unique shapes and features which evolved to reflect the variety in each island's costal terrain and fishing waters.
In the finished work here produced, we have found strong ties with our past, practical meaning to your present, and a clear warnings about our future. In this we feel a renewed sense of devotion to Caribbean development in a special context... the progress and yet permanence of the Fishing Boat, is clearly akin to the CLICO commitment to a solid foundation and a secure future for all of us.

CLICO CALENDAR 1993- THE TRADITIONS OF CARIBBEAN VENDORS
The 1993 CLICO calendar reflects the company's belief in the strength of the Caribbean entrepreneurial spirit
Jackie Hinkson's artistic talent portrays this spirit through a look at the vendors of our beautiful isles - St Lucia's 'Marchand', the 'Hawker' of Barbados, the 'Higgler' of Jamaica, the St Kitts' 'Tunban' and Trinidad's Pewabtique" (Pwa-tik). The paradox of cultures which vary yet share so many commonalities express what it means to be a special kind of entrepreneur in the Caribbean .
Through these conte crayon drawings, it is hoped that there will be an understanding of the deep sense of commitment the entrepreneurs of the Caribbean have to their way of life. It is on this solid foundation these people of the Caribbean can build a vibrant economic base and a truly sound future
